About

Hi! I am Redhawk and want to share some thoughts on my struggles with politics and how it interacts/interferes with seeking spiritual grown. My goal is becoming enlightened and maybe I have reached a beginning stage. Here’s hoping that you are on this same journey and maybe these thoughts will be helpful to you.

My background includes three years in a Catholic Seminary, having read hundreds of books on spirituality, and several decades as a student of “A Course in Miracles.” ACIM is an in-depth self-study course that teaches a person that they are One with All Things and are intrinsically part of All Things. The Course is a non-dual philosophy and emphasizes forgiveness and “loving your neighbor” above all else. It has similarities with Buddhism and Hinduism and many other teachings of the “Universal Philosophy.” The ideas are not unique, but do allow one to progress faster, as it pulls no punches gets to the heart of the matter.

A politiholic is just like it sounds, someone who loves politics and can’t get enough, even when it doesn’t make sense. It can very easily though get in the way of one’s life, relationship, job, etc. It can be a problem.

I was a professional journalist back in the ’70’s, an English Teacher, and eventually a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am married and the father of two and was once a foster parent of over two dozens youngsters. It gives you a clue as to why I care about politics, got involved in politics and now wish to find ways to be helpful rather than problematic. It’s hard to find common ground in religion and politics, my two favorite subject!

Feel free to join in the discussions, as long as they are respectful and insightful. This is not the place to take sides and attack.
