Going Crazy
The Passage of Time
It has been a while since I have posted here. A lot seems to have happened in the political world, to the extent that nothing seems the same anymore. To those without faith in the eternal Love of our Source, it can be very disconcerting.
Losing It
Politiholics are going crazy, and that’s saying something in an insane world of temporariness. At least two sides, probably many more, wish each other harm, whether one is talking about conservatives, progressives, socialists, communists, Christians, Jews, Muslims or others.
In the United States, the tribe of the Democrats seems to be making a bid to “take over permanently” as the dominant power by changing laws, electing people who will ignore laws, and making up their own laws to bring about control of every aspect of human life. The open border is bringing in millions of potential new voters. Even the word democracy is now really meaning government by Democrats. Autocrats all over the world are coming together to create a world government, ruled by smart ambitious people.
The tribe of the Republicans is fighting to stop this headlong rush to rule, not “of, by and for the people,” but the rule of bureaucrats in Washington with the help of the Democrats. Whether it is healthcare, education, banking, technology, the military, housing, transportation or energy, “experts” have an opinion on how all people in the country should be. Nothing has been untouched and the control only seems to getting more encompassing. The Republican tribe, if it wins, still has a lot of work to find a way forward that is acceptable to those who are committed to the other side.
The reverse is also true. Politholics of both tribes are in a panic, exhilarated, angry, or depressed much of the time. The divide is definitely there. Trouble is, without a government of all the people with their consent, fails and is miserable for all concerned. Healing a split will take a long time.

Enlightened?
To become an “enlightened” politiholic is to shine a light on the whole situation, to seek only the truth.
In the light, one becomes aware that we are temporary beings, born at a specific time, but it's also certain we will all die. Do we exist before and after this lifetime? During this lifetime: what are we? Some say we are nothing. Others say we are all One in the Spirit. Hard to say just what we are right now, nothing seems certain.

Nothingness
Now, no-thing can be rightly interpreted as energy that is not formed in time and space: nothing. Yet energy is something, it just is hard to discern in space-time, which is temporary and ephemeral at best. The best guess is that we are a part of everything permanent, which is just not perceptible in space-time, which is not permanent. The Buddha suggested that people not get too enamored of material found in space-time, including bodies: all of it is temporary and we will lose it.
Many say it is Love that makes the world go ‘round. We can feel love, but can’t see it itself, only the results of it, kind of like air. Many people feel small and worthless compared to the immensity of the physical world. It is one reason people are driven to join tribes, to feel like the are a part of something they can see. But then, if we are all a part of the same thing, then maybe we should use our creativity to figure out how we are connected, tribes notwithstanding.

Separateness
Still, even as a part of a tribe, it seems obvious that something seems to be separate, one from each other: people, cells, cities, governments, galaxies, solar systems; there is no place to see or feel any Oneness or Eternal Life. Maybe that is why the world of space-time is ultimately temporary, along with our sense of identity and self. What if the people we hate and fight so much are really just a part of our True Self-identity? What if our tribe is really All Human Beings?
When I think of government, I try to see if they are taking us in the direction of the great world religions and the ‘universal philosophy.’ If it doesn’t, I do not support it and look elsewhere. However, we have put ourselves in the position of not being able to see non-physical Reality and experiencing only space-time. Our bodies are made to deny the “Divine Mind” that we are a part of and we see only “other.” It’s pretty trippy.

Divide and Conquer: A Dirty Trick Unenlightened Politicians Play
Separateness makes it easy to play games with others, making power trips, enslavement, and other travesties possible. It happens in couples, families, groups of all kinds, churches, governments, any group. Politicians without a spiritual basis are the worst: there is nothing to stop them, separation of church and state notwithstanding. As many people say, they are spiritual but not religious. Politicians who are neither spiritual or religious are ignorant of the Reality that is behind spirituality and most religions. The truly non-spiritual and non-religious think their life depends on doing everything they can to provide for themselves, even if it is at the expense of others:
- I have a hard time dealing with people who think that they are bodies and nothing else. They will do anything to maximize their physical appetites, including food, sex, power and money. They will say anything and do anything to further these objectives.
- Hypocrites have been around since recorded time. Lying, that is saying one thing to gain your trust and then doing something else is popular. It is the root of “bait and switch.” Good-hearted people build something great, while others swoop in and take over. The good intentions paved the way for power-hungry tyrants. [The Democratic Party of my youth bears no resemblance to the one of 2024, though many people who aren’t paying attention to politics aren’t really aware of what the party is all about.]
- Sometimes it is too late for good people do anything but submit. Even if they cry out that those who think they know ‘everything’ are wrong, all mistakes will be minimized and if they do something right, it will be hyped for a long time. Never is there a sense of proportion, a resemblance to what happened; it’s all about building power, slowly taking over the world. In this case, it is good that lives are short and we do not have to suffer forever.
- Politicians using this tactic frequently maximize minimal good news… and minimize any incriminating bad news, no matter how blatant. This well-ingrained technique is to “spin the narrative or story” to benefit the tribe. This is the basis of propaganda, making people think something really good happened when not much happened at all, making them all look good, even if it is 90% bad news. The reverse is similar: minimizing truly horrendous bad news, often going straight to denial or self-justifying behavior. It’s hard to get a straight answer and make an accurate judgment about what appeared to happen. It’s sad when trusted media personalities drift from impartiality to political partisanship.
- It appears that most people have trouble accepting responsibility for their misdeeds and automatically blame other people. This is the basic tool of projection: accusing others of the very things you are doing. It rolls off the tongue because there is truth, but feels good because you no long feel shame, guilt or pain for what has done. Politicians who do this think that most people will believe them, no matter what they say. They are conditioned to believe “their media source.” If it is someone in your “tribe” and you aren’t paying close attention, many will believe them until it becomes obvious that people are lying. Even then it is common to forgive and accept bad behavior from those in your close group or “family” because “that is what families do.” Repeated lies often enough, for many, it becomes true.
- The pain of thinking that you were misled by somebody you trusted is so devastating that some will just blow it off and keep supporting their person. The loss of tribal relationships is just too great for many.
Conformity
The truth is not really part of this system. If you do not accept bad behavior in your family, you are criticized and if you praise good behavior on the part of someone outside your little group, you are criticized. What is good for the whole is not the criteria, only what is good for the tribe. This is true even if what is good for the tribe is bad for some in the tribe and bad for everybody else. It is near-sighted, almost narcissistic.
Redefine Terms Arbitrarily
Another coin-flipping game is redefining words and laws to suit the new narrative: “tails I win, heads you lose.” A narrative that defines over half the population as predators merely because of their heritage or skin color is insane.
Redefining gender and pronouns is perhaps useful only to a few individuals, not society, which is more concerned with fathers and mothers and ensuring the survival of the human race.
Making people today pay for the transgressions of great-great-grandfathers is not fair to the current generation, especially if the ancestors of many people today were themselves enslaved and not related directly to any beneficiaries asking for “reparations.” The fact is that most people’s ancestors have been the victims of the many different forms of slavery that have occurred for thousands of years. The thing is, slavery is going on right now and not much is being done to stop it because doing so would mean other, unacceptable changes. Think about it.

Coping With Injustice
It’s hard to watch lying, cheating and the tearing down of institutions that have been keeping society more or less civil for a long time, rebuilding them to serve their tribe, but not others. The enlightened politiholic sees these things but does nothing and judges not. If we are all one and part of the same mind, judging and hurting other people is the same as hurting our Self. If we are individual and separate, then it would be a bad idea, hurting survival. Enlightenment is not popular with most people: it is viewed as weak, and gurus, priests, and others do not fight back every time, very hard. They are easy pickings, as the Vikings found out over a thousand years ago! [read your history about this period someday]
It’s a hard choice in some ways, and easy in others. Jesus demonstrated, as others have attempted, that this physical life is temporary and that remembering our seemingly invisible Oneness in Love and togetherness is more important than our obvious living bodies. Bodies come and go – minds remain because the mind is eternal and cannot be destroyed. The Eternal Mind, of which we are a part, does not want a body. The needs of bodies are endless and the supplies are limited, guaranteeing competition and fighting. As noted, this world is indeed, “Crazy Town.

Enlightenment
As we have noted in this blog, the only way to cope is to see things differently, to return hate and oppression with love in the knowledge that “this too shall pass” as only Love is permanent. Not engaging and trying to change people not open to change right now and moving on as best as practical seems to be the only move in these situations!
