One of Us
The singer, Joan Osborne is hearing the Voice and wondered about it in the theme for that show…
“Oh, one of these nights, And About 12 o’clock, This whole earth is gonna reel and rock, Saints will tremble and cry for pain For the Lord’s gonna come in his heaven airplane.
“If God had a name what would it be? And would you call it to his face? If you were faced with Him in all His glory What would you ask if you had just one question?
And yeah, yeah, God is great Yeah, yeah, God is good yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Tryin' to make his way home?
"If God had a face what would it look like? And would you want to see, if seeing meant That you would have to believe in things like heaven And in Jesus and the saints, and all the prophets?
And yeah, yeah, God is great Yeah, yeah, God is good yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Tryin' to make his way home?”
Cyndi Lauper was listening one day and wrote this wonderful song, “True Colors” sung here by Phil Collins:
“You with the sad eyes, Don't be discouraged. Oh I realize It's hard to take courage In a world full of people. You can lose sight of it all And the darkness inside you Can make you feel so small.
But I see your true colors Shining through. I see your true colors And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow.
Show me a smile then, Don't be unhappy. Can't remember when I last saw you laughing. If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear, You call me up Because you know I'll be there.
But I see your true colors Shining through. I see your true colors And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow.”
According to many physicists, at our core, the atomic level, we are truly beings of light and energy. Some of us have learned to remove the blocks to Love and are able to glimpse this Loving Light that we are all made of. Next time you hear “True Colors,” remember that we are all made of divine colors. That is who we truly are. The music will help you remember.
