You can find the Voice for God on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Prime and other music services! You just have to be listening! Closely! Here are some songs that I have reviewed and found the Voice. I use them for my playlists to help me remember who I am and where I am going. These are artist who are doing the same!

One of Us

Many of us struggle with our “relationship” with God.  We realize that we are a part of God, yet we are confronted with many others who are also a part of God.  Some of them don’t seem to be much fun.
On this blog-podcast, we search for songs that seem to be from the Voice For God.  It is in some ways like the theme from the old TV program, Joan of Arcadia.  Joan hears the Voice For God speaking through other, seemingly random people.  She doesn’t realize that The Voice is speaking to us all of the time, often through others.

The singer, Joan Osborne is hearing the Voice and wondered about it in the theme for that show…

“Oh, one of these nights, And About 12 o’clock, This whole earth is gonna reel and rock, Saints will tremble and cry for pain For the Lord’s gonna come in his heaven airplane.

“If God had a name what would it be? And would you call it to his face? If you were faced with Him in all His glory What would you ask if you had just one question?

And yeah, yeah, God is great Yeah, yeah, God is good yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Tryin' to make his way home?

Joan, God is home.  It is us trying to get there.  We forget that we are already there, but, right now we have so many questions that we are tempted to ask God:

"If God had a face what would it look like? And would you want to see, if seeing meant That you would have to believe in things like heaven And in Jesus and the saints, and all the prophets?

And yeah, yeah, God is great Yeah, yeah, God is good yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Tryin' to make his way home?”

The Holy Spirit doesn’t miss a chance to talk to us; we just have to be listening.  We might not have to believe in heaven, Jesus, the saints, or all the prophets, but we might first start believing in ourselves and each other, looking for God in all whom we meet, especially the hard ones.  The outer voice is very loud, but the still small voice inside must be listened for.
Therein lies the challenge and why I am grateful for singers and songwriters like Joan who hear and then write it down for all of us!

Cyndi Lauper was listening one day and wrote this wonderful song, “True Colors” sung here by Phil Collins:

“You with the sad eyes, Don't be discouraged. Oh I realize It's hard to take courage In a world full of people. You can lose sight of it all And the darkness inside you Can make you feel so small.

But I see your true colors Shining through. I see your true colors And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow.

Show me a smile then, Don't be unhappy. Can't remember when I last saw you laughing. If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear, You call me up Because you know I'll be there.

But I see your true colors Shining through. I see your true colors And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful, Like a rainbow.”

God sees us as we are: beautiful!

According to many physicists, at our core, the atomic level, we are truly beings of light and energy.  Some of us have learned to remove the blocks to Love and are able to glimpse this Loving Light that we are all made of.  Next time you hear “True Colors,” remember that we are all made of divine colors.  That is who we truly are.  The music will help you remember.

Thanks to iTunes and Amazon, Joan Osborne, and Cyndi Lauper  you can download any of the wonderful songs mentioned on this blog, so that you can be reminded in a fun what Who You Really Are!
